Now, skype is fun. It brings the best stalker/voyeur out in me. I set it up
at school yesterday as I don't have the equipment necessary at home (I get
the leftover computer stuff.) I was able to watch a math lesson in a first grade
classroom. The possibilities for classroom use are endless. In fact, I'm going to
take a fourth grade group on a virtual fieldtrip to visit the creative department
at Campbell Ewald to watch a "professional writer" work on an ad piece.
It's good to have a writer in the family. I can check on my puppy at daycare
on skype also...but that's another story!

Skype is one of those great tools that you can find so many uses for...for collaboration and sharing, as well as keeping in touch with family and friends.
ReplyDeleteFor education it has opened up the classroom to the world beyond...and in these days of reduced funding, it makes it possible for students to hear speakers and authors from all over. Great ideas for the use of Skype!
I too love skype for keeping up with the family. I like the idea of watching someone else teach a lesson. What a great way to participate in collaboration without having to find a sub, meet after school, etc. I am going to look for other chem teachers so I can see some master teachers do their job! Great idea.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed Skype too. Mostly I've called other teachers in my building (instead of walking down the hall to see them! :-) ) I would love to Skype another teacher in another state/country to allow my students to see what happens outside my classroom walls.
ReplyDeleteI love Skype. It gives back that eye to eye contact that is lacking in a phone conversation. It is also a great way to "take" students places that you can't actually take them. You can call me anytime.
ReplyDeleteI JUST learned how to use SKYPE and love it. I can't wait to use it both in my job - and personally :)
